Bottle: snuff

Description
One glazed black gold and white ceramic snuff bottle. A short narrow neck with a slightly flaring rim surmounts an elongated cylindrical body tapering slightly at the bottom to a circular base. Body presents continuous design of figures houses and landscape motifs outlined in gold on white with remaining ground glazed black. Base exhibits mark of Daoguang Emperor (1821-1850 AD) in red-brown glaze. Plain green stopper and collar.

One of a consignment carried to New Zealand in 1957 by George Jackson of Auckland, and from Auckland to Christchurch by Jack Locke, including 22 snuff bottles.
