Japanese short sword (wakizashi) and scabbard
Description
Handle. Blue cloth, braided, peep-holes showing ivory pearl cluster and gilt Kirin below. Fuchi and Kashira of shibuichi, with gilt dragons in relief. Tsuba of shakudo with gilt dragons in relief. Sheath white, occasional red, mosaic pattern. Kodzuka with shakudo hilt, with four-diamond pattern.
Wooden scabbard spotted with inlaid shell which has been in turn coated with clear lacquer. Suspension cords are still attached to the scabbard.
