Description
Blue shantung crepe matrons dress with double (satin lined) front panel by Lorna Cooper for Selby model. 1959-1960s C659 (MRM).

Neckline: Rounded and self faced. At centre back there is a metal hook and pale blue cotton thread blanket stitch eye used as a closure.

Collar: No collar.

Bodice Style: Semi fitted.

Sleeve Style: Dolman, elbow length, with an underarm gusset (two piece) 14.5cm long x 11cm wide, hem is turned under twice 2.2cm, machine neatened, then handstitched in place.

Waistline: Natural, semi fitted. Self fabric rouleau loops at the side seams and a 2.2cm wide pale blue cotton thread (knotted) belt keeper at the right of centre back. No belt.

Skirt Shape: Straight.

Seams: Machine sewn, pale blue cotton thread.

Edges: Overlocked, pale blue cotton thread or selvedge.

Buttons: Self covered (sateen surface outermost). 3.3cm diameter fabric button stand on back.

Alterations evident, shortening of bodice through waist and taking in at side seams (different cottons and widths of seams).
