Description
Skirt in eight panels. Typical print on red spun rayon silk. D171 1950s (MRM).
Waistline: Natural, attached, waistband 4cm wide and 72.5cm long. Fastened over left hip with a button/buttonhole set. Four self fabric belt keepers spaced around waistband and sewn into skirt seam, 0.8cm wide. No belt.
Skirt Shape: Flared.
Seams: Machine sewn, red cotton thread.
Edges: Zig zagged, red cotton thread or left raw.
Buttons: Red plastic, four holes for attachment, slightly raised outer rim. 1.9cm diameter.
Buttonholes: Horizontal, handstitched (blanket stitch) in red cotton thread 2cm.
Side seams look to have been let out at some point, no neatening and very slim seams also evident on fabric of previous sewling line with some distortion of yarn.
