Description
1954 black heavy linen sheath dress with wide white embroidered band at hem. D385 (MRM).
Neckline: Boat shaped, very plain, faced with a black plain weave satin lining fabric.
Collar: No collar.
Bodice Style: Semi fitted.
Sleeve Style: Cap sleeve in one with the bodice. Hem is achieved by turn under twice (amount varies) and neatening it with a machine zig zag then handstitching in place.
Waistline: Natural, undefined, fitted.
Skirt Shape: Straight.
Seams: 'Original' machine sewn black cotton thread.
Edges: 'Original' turned under and machine neatened (either straight or zig zag) black cotton thread.
Side seams have probably been let out - edges zig zagged with white cotton and reasonably narrow seams (except over left hip).
