Description
Cuffed magyar sleeves, corselet waist in grey rich finely ribbed silk. A well worn hence popular dress. Probably had narrow black patent blet, or one of self fabric. D382 1952 (MRM).
Neckline: V shpaed at front, rounded back.
Collar: Draped, an extension of both front bodice pieces that fold over on itself to form the collar and joins together at the centre back seam. Turn back at widest point 10.5cm.
Bodice Style: Semi fitted.
Sleeve Style: Magyar cut in one with the body - two piece ie seamed at the outer and inner most edges. Turned back separate cuff at elbow. Turn back 4.5cm deep, self fabric.
Waistline: Natural, semi fitted. Located at both side seams are sage cotton thread 'loosely' blanket stitched. Belt keepers 4.5cm long. No belt.
Skirt Shape: Flared.
Buttons: Self covered, 2cm diameter.
Buttonholes: 2.5cm horizontal, light grey/green cotton thread. Heavily stitched around the edges.
Internally it looks like there have been large scale alterations eg shortening through the waist, taking in through the centre back skirt seam and front skirt side seams. Origianl seaming sage green cotton thread with overlock edges in teh same cotton thread. Alterations, grey cotton thread machine sewn seams, raw edges or turned under and machine sewn with grey cotton thread.
