Description
Housecoat of late 1940s into 1950s, splashy print on pure cotton with carved flower buttons, nicely yoked top. D383 1948-1950s (MRM).
Neckline: V neck at front, rounded at back.
Collar: One piece, with topstitching in white around the edge. Edge of collar lines up with front opening edges. 9.5cm at widest point.
Bodice Style: Straight.
Sleeve Style: Inset, one piece, short sleeve (mid upper arm). Hem turned under twice 3.5cm machine neatened and handstitched in place.
Waistline: Undefined.
Skirt Shape: Straight.
Seams: Machine sewn with white cotton thread.
Edges: Turned under once and machine sewn in place OR two rows of machine stitching (pocket and armhole yoke area) and trimmed back.
Buttons: Red plastic with a white flower carved onto the surface. 1.6cm diameter.
Buttonholes: Machine sewn, white cotton thread, horizontal. 1.6cm wide.
