Description
Simple wool georgette day dress in palma violet D185 1950s (MRM).

Neckline: V neck at the front and rounded at the back. Neckline is self faced, the front neckline has just had the fabric turned under.

Collar: No collar.

Bodice Style: Semi fitted.

Sleeve Style: Slightly gathered at sleeve cap. Short (mid upper arm), inset, one piece. Hem turned under twice, about 2cm and machine neatened then hand stitched in place.

Waistline: Natural, loose. Both sides of the waistline have cotton thread, blanket stitch belt keeper 2.5cm wide. These are starting to wear badly. There is a self covered belt. Belt has topstitching, four metal eyeholes (three grey and one chrome). The buckle is D shaped and self covered. A self fabric belt keeper is attached near the buckle and appears to have been mended where the fabric has pulled out.

Skirt Shape: Very slight flare.

Seams: Machine sewn, purple and navy cotton thread.

Edges: Hand finished with purple cotton thread and a whipping stitch.
