Description
Womans house frock in pen and brush blue/pastel floral silky rayon. Homemade late 1950s D287 (MRM).

Neckline: Rounded at base of throat, self faced. Edge is bound in a plain white nylon knit fabric 0.7cm wide. Central back opening, closed by a chrome coloured metal hook and white cotton blanket stitch thread eye.

Collar: No collar.

Bodice Style: Semi fitted.

Sleeve Style: Short, inset, one piece. Sleeve head slightly gathered in place. Hem turned under once, edge neatened with overlocking and blind stitched in place.

Waistline: Natural, navy cotton thread knotted belt keepers at both side seams (5cm long), both have been mended. Belt middle section of self fabric with topstitching. At either ends are three rouleau loop tassles made from the same fabric as mat which binds the neck. About 47cm long with a knot at the end.

Skirt Shape: Flared.

Seams: Machine sewn, navy cotton thread.

Edges: Overlocked, white 'nylon' filament thread.

The dress appears to have been shortened in the bodice by about 4cm as there is a large tuck around the waist, taupe colour cotton thread. This would account for the zip alteration.
