Description
Wooden body (?beech) 199 x 69 x 61 mm, coffin-shaped.
Steel sole with 9 screws. Wood wedge; cast steel blade (180 x 53 mm) stamped "Alex. Mathieson & Son. Warranted Cast Steel"; small steel wedge stamped "Warranted Steel".
Top of body at heel end has burnt-in initials "W.N." Note finger pressure marks above central discharge. Belonged to depositor's grandfather, William Edward Norris (see apprenticeship papers in Archived Dept.) Presented per J.K. Wakefield.
