Description
Lid of kiln/firebox which holds crucibles: ceramic tile, very coarse ?stoneware, 270 x 345 x 80, with surrounding iron strap and lifting handle; 38mm diameter hole in centre through which fumes from the retorted gold and borax could escape.
3 tiles - ? for resting hot crucible - 155 x 152 x 25mm; coarse creamy brown stoneware.
2 kiln tiles, marked "1948 NETTLE", with one bevelled edge, 147 x 132 x 19mm.
1 kiln-lining tile, very coarse open stoneware, 230 x 112 x 19mm.
1 kiln-lining tile, coarse cream stoneware, 220 x 110 x 30mm.
