Description
Earthenware with matt black glaze and transfer print decoration. Imitation "Etruscan" ware.
Circular recessed plate; white glaze on edge and base, including foot; matt black glaze on top with black and white Greek key pattern border with gilt edges; central transfer of Greek soldier leaving his family - wife and nurse holding baby, temple in background.
Back stamp: Pratt Fenton "Old Greek" Condition wear on surface and edges; small chips on inner edge of recess.
